Strawberries are a healthy and delicious choice if you're craving a sweet snack, and they're a great addition to your breakfast too. Whether you're blending them up into a smoothie or putting them on top of oats, their sweet and tangy flavour always hits the spot. However, like most berries, they can go bad and turn mouldy quickly in the fridge, meaning you need to throw them out before you've had the chance to eat them.
Food waste is never ideal, particularly if you're trying to save money and get the most out of your weekly shop . Thankfully though, there's a very simple storage hack that's said to make the popular berries last for a whole fortnight. The handy tip was shared by lifestyle influencer and mum Chantel Mila on TikTok , who often posts helpful tips when it comes to keeping your home clean and organised.
In one of her recent videos, she detailed a few of her favourite food storage hacks aimed at helping people to make their fresh produce last as long as possible. And when it comes to strawberries, the secret lies in using white vinegar: a kitchen staple ingredient that not only helps to tackle several cleaning jobs, but can also preserve your berries too. All you need to do is put your strawberries in a bowl of water and add a cup of white vinegar, leaving the berries to soak for around five minutes.
Then, drain them out giveh them a quick rinse with water. Pat the fruits dry before transferring to an airtight container and popping it in the fridge. Chantel says t.
