A kitchen hack shows how easy it is to keep bread, cereal and treats fresh even after they have been opened. Simply using the packaging the food item comes in is enough to create a seal for the product.

But it is not a simple case of twisting the bread bag around as so many already do. It involves pulling the plastic over the remaining slices to create what TikTok user @vickygilchrist_ described as a hack that "changed [her] life". Twisting the bread packaging is still part of the hack, but people can keep their bread as air tight as can be by folding over the bag's opening.

Folding one part of the opening at the top inside of the box and then squeezing the sides to make a tight corner reduces the size of the opening and removes the side pockets where air could possibly get in.

Furthering the hack, Vicky used the unfolded part of the opening to slot into the now smaller opening. A similar hack could be used for bags of crisps or, in Vicky's example, a bag of popcorn. The opening was tightly shut by creasing the top and folding it over and over.

Other users of the social media app have since praised the free tip, which is keeping their treats and bread as .
