KBC 16 contestant Utkarsh Baxi lost Rs. 25 lakh after he was unable to answer a question based on Mahabharat. Scroll down to reads.

Updated: August 13, 2024 11:09 AM IST By Edited by Amitabh Bachchan’s hit quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati finally kicked off on Monday, August 12. As a tradition, the actor began the program with a speech of gratitude, followed by the introduction of the contestants. The first contestant of the season to sit on the hot seat was Utkarsh Baxi from Bengaluru.

Baxi, an HR professional, managed to play the quiz well. However, he failed to answer a question based on the Mahabharat and, as a result, lost Rs.25 lakhs.

The question, which was based on the Mahabharat and asked by Big B, was: “As per the Mahabharata, which deity gifted a garland to Amba, adding that whoever wears it will be the one to kill Bhishma?” The four options given to Baxi were: Lord Shiva, Lord Kartikeya, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Vayu. Unsure of the answer, Utkarsh sought help by using one of his lifelines, ‘Video Call a Friend.’ His friend suggested Lord Shiva as the correct option.

Hesitant about this response, Utkarsh opted for another lifeline, ‘Double Dip,’ granting him two attempts to answer the question. Unfortunately, his first choice, Lord Shiva, proved incorrect. As a last resort, he selected Lord Vayu, but to no avail.

With both attempts exhausted, Utkarsh’s KBC journey came to an abrupt end, leaving him with the agony of a missed opportunity to win Rs. 25 lakhs. Later, Amitabh Bachchan revealed the correct answer and provided more details: “Lord Kartikeya, after rigorous penance, appeared before Amba in his six-faced avatar and presented her with a garland.

He said whoever wears it will be able to kill Bhishma. Since nobody was ready to do it, she threw it on a pole. Later, when Amba was reborn as Shikhandi, she wore the garland and killed Bhishma.

” As a result of the wrong answer, Utkarsh not only lost Rs. 25 lakhs but also the Rs. 12.

5 lakhs he could have won if he had chosen to quit the game. He eventually walked home with prize money of Rs. 3.

20 lakhs. During the show, contestants were introduced to a new feature called ‘Super Sawal,’ where they can opt to answer a question even without receiving the four options. If the answer to the question turns out to be correct, the contestant will be rewarded with double the prize money.

Contestants are only allowed to use this option between the 6th and 10th questions. For breaking news and live news updates, like us on or follow us on and . Read more on Latest on .
