The Kaziranga National Park in Assam, renowned for the endangered one-horned rhinoceroses, officially reopened its gates to tourists on October 1, after being shut for the monsoon season. State Forest Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary announced the commencement of the 2024-25 season during a ceremony held in the Bagori western range and expressed optimism that this year more wildlife enthusiasts will visit the park, compared to previous seasons. "We already have adequate infrastructure in Kaziranga and several more attractions, like additional boats for tourists.
We are hopeful that more tourists will visit this year, improving upon the last season's record of over 3.27 lakh visitors," he said, according to PTI. Patowary highlighted the importance of collaboration among park officials and local communities in drawing tourists and ensuring they have a memorable experience.
He noted that after visits by dignitaries such as President Ramnath Kovind, PM Modi, Bhutan's King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck more tourists, were attracted to the park.
