Prayagraj: Kaushambi district jail authorities are all set to launch ‘Shiksha Plus’ campaign to educate inmates in basic arithmetic , Hindi, and English alphabets starting Wednesday. 90 inmates, including 30 women lodged at Kaushambi district jail, who have never been to school, will learn to read and write. These inmates will be imparted basic arithmetic and English alphabet training by five trained and literate prisoners.

Superintendent of Kaushambi district jail, Ajitesh Mishra, told TOI that, “After volunteers of the Shiv Nadar Foundation imparted digital training to five literate inmates, these literate inmates are ready to share the responsibility of educating all 90 inmates.” “After carrying out a survey on the education of inmates, jail authorities have prepared a list of 90 inmates who showed interest in learning basic arithmetic and English alphabets,” Mishra said. The inmates are already provided with books and stationery.



All classes have blackboards, and laptops will also be given to teachers to help inmates gain basic knowledge of computers.
