Jan 31, 1956 Jun 30, 2024 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of our beloved sister and aunt, Kathy Jean Davis, of North Platte, who was taken from us far too soon. Kathy, 68, passed away on June 30, 2024, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Peters, Missouri.

She was born in North Platte on Jan. 31, 1956, to Jack L. and Dorothy (Campbell) Davis.

Before she reached the age of two, she and her family moved to Southern California, where she grew up. She graduated from Nogales High School in 1974 and attended Mt. San Antonio College before returning to North Platte with her parents.

She was hired as an operator by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in North PIatte and eventually transferred to Omaha where she continued her education and became a computer programmer. Kathy retired after a 35-plus year career with the phone company and returned to North PIatte once again. Her exceptional talent with embroidery, lace making, crochet, knitting, cross-stitch and any form of needlework Ieft us with many samples of her abilities over the years.

A true artist, she expressed her creativity not only through these crafts but also through photography when she was younger. Kathy had a deep interest in reading about English history and royalty and had a love for British comedy television shows. She could converse endlessly about them.

She found joy in all forms of entertainment, from movies to concerts and was very competitive...

dare we shall say ruthless! ...

when taking a seat at a board game. She also had a green thumb and a passion for finding the most beautiful selection of peonies to plant. She was an active member of the Lace Guild in Omaha and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

In Omaha she served in several capacities, including Worthy Matron. She was currently an active member of the North PIatte Eastern Star. She had a big heart and loved her family and her animals.

In her final act of generosity, she gave the precious gift of organ donation, leaving a legacy of compassion and hope. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family and all who knew her. Kathy is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Sandra Ripple; and brothers-in-law, Dave Stearns and Buck Ripple, all of North Platte.

She is survived by her sisters, Karen Stearns of North Platte and Sherry (Dennis) Desy of St. Louis; her nieces, Pamela (Eric) Krause, Julie Oliver and Jennifer Desy of St. Louis; nephews, Mike (Carol) Ripple and Mark Ripple of North Platte and Gregg (Lisel) Stearns of Lincoln; and numerous great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Kathy's name to Fur the Love of Paws Animal Rescue in North Platte or the animal rescue shelter of your choice. Graveside service is at a later date at the North Platte Cemetery. Get local news delivered to your inbox!.
