Birth: February 15, 1939 Death: August 30, 2024 Katherine Ann Balc OBITUARY Katherine Ann Balc (nee Nissen) passed away August 30th, 2024 at the age of 85. She was born in 1939 to the late Raymond and Norma Nissan and grew up mainly in the Wheaton IL area. She was a graduate of Wheaton Community High School and Wheaton College.
At the time of her passing, she was currently residing at Windsor Park retirement community in Carol Stream with her beloved husband of 63 years, Alexander Balc, Jr. She was loved by many for her kind and giving spirit, and a wonderful person who touched many lives. Anyone who knew Kathy was aware of her love of gardening.
She brought life and vibrancy to the area around her apartment at Windsor with flowers. Her favorite place in the world was her former home of more than 40 years in Oswego, IL. People who visited were awestruck by the beautiful gardens.
She even started a business, Na Au Say Farms, selling perennials at famers markets. Kathy also enjoyed traveling, jigsaw puzzles, Oberweis hot fudge sundaes, and decorating every inch of her house at Christmas. No one loved Christmas more than she.
She will be greatly missed by her college sweetheart, Alex, her three children, Susan Balc, Jennifer (Mike) McCartney, and Alexander (Kristi) Balc III. Kathy was the proud Gramma of six, Nickolas, Justin, Brandon, Alexa, Tessa and Jesse. She is also survived by one brother Alan, and many nieces and nephews.
