Kate Middleton's brother has given a glimpse into in his brand new memoir. James Middleton's book, , is due to be released next week. It includes several anecdotes about his relatives, but it's his insights into his sister's relationship that have truly revealed a previously unseen side of the Princess - including how meeting William completely changed both her life and personality.
Reflecting on her transformation into Princess Kate, James remembered a moment shortly before she in 2010. "Our family knew a day or so before it was officially announced in November 2010," James wrote in an extract from his memoir. "Catherine, Pippa and I go out for a walk with Ella and Tilly to our local pub in a village near Bucklebury.
We sit in a corner, chatting quietly," he continued. In the extract, which was obtained by the , James explained: "Pippa and I want to show our excitement, but we have to suppress our emotions so no one suspects anything. We make a quiet acknowledgment that we'll always be there for each other, look out for one another, support each other.
No matter how crazy things get." James opened up about the profound impact William has had on his sister's life, saying: "William has been in our lives for so long and we've grown very fond of him. He feels like our older brother and he and Catherine are so clearly a good fit, just right for each other.
" James admitted William "brought out Kate's confidence" and said she "blossomed" after starting a relationship with him. James gushed: "I knew he'd look after her, and he does to this day." Since their early days at St Andrews university, William and Kate's relationship has only grown stronger, with the couple facing life's ups and downs together, including the joy of welcoming their children - Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis - and supporting each other through losses like the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Most recently, amid Kate's battle with cancer, William has been her steadfast pillar of support.
