The classic white sari is a fashion formula that never falters. With her Sabyasachi drape, Karisma Kapoor asserts that there’s no more extraordinary yet effortless style to default to than a pristine six-yard staple for any season and occasion. The 90s star wore the look for the opening celebrations of the Raj Kapoor Film Festival in Mumbai, commemorating the late, legendary actor’s 100th birth anniversary.

For the milestone moment, Kapoor embodied her personal style that veers towards classicism along with the refined aestheticism of the 1950s. Her highly covetable drape, both lustrous and diaphanous at once, is cut using organza and is accentuated with intricately embroidered borders and buttis, illustrating dainty floral motifs and edged with a gota patti hem . A high-neckline, half-sleeved modest white blouse rounded off her sari.

Oozing grace and a touching tribute to her grandfather, it’s hard not to notice the striking similarities of her romantic sari and actor Nargis Dutt’s look in the glorious song, ‘ Pyar Hua Ikraar Hua ’ from the musical comedy, Shree 420 . Further harnessing the vintage-glam appeal, she went with a bouquet of pearl necklaces from Sabyasachi Jewellery. She went with a classic pearl string teamed with a multi-layered necklace.

Complementing drop earrings and a white clutch with the designer’s signature Bengal tiger motif completed her accessory look. Her makeup was kept soft and dewy, while a slick bun served as a finishing touch. Ove.
