When you meet Kareem Wylie, you’re likely to assume that he is a local fashion model or that you’ve just met soca artiste Sekon Sta (Nesta Boxill)...

so uncanny is their resemblance. Wylie, the CEO of YUP Life Promotions, admits that he gets the Sekon Sta lookalike talk all the time, but joked, “I think I am better looking.” At 28 years old, Wylie is keeping his head up and going hard after his dreams.



Ever since he was a student of the Pleasantville Secondary School, Wylie began sharpening his leadership skills as part of the Student Advisory Committee. His interest in planning events came later, he said, when he got to The UWI, a completely different career path from construction, his original career interest. “Growing up, I was fascinated by the construction industry, due to the significant influence my dad had on me,” Wylie said.

“He was a contractor and I was just a part of so many of his projects. “In my journey, God had a different plan; he’d place me with a special group of people—or Young Urban Professionals (YUP) as I know it—and in that light, these people fuelled my desire for event management and business. “As the (newly appointed) CEO of YUP Life, I oversee everything from planning and execution of events to team management and strategic growth, while simultaneously attempting to meet the goals of the key stakeholders.
