Karan Johar has recently grabbed attention after reports of him investing in Swiggy, an online food delivery service. Well, today he has officially issued a statement in which he has dismissed all such claims and called it untrue. The statement was released by Dharma Productions.
The statement reads, “Certain sections of the media are falsely reporting that Mr. Karan Johar has invested in Swiggy, the online food delivery service. These reports are untrue.
Mr. Johar has not invested in Swiggy.” It is also being reported that Madhuri Dixit and Amitabh Bachchan have invested but nothing has been made official till now.
Swiggy is reportedly preparing for a massive IPO to raise $1.4 billion (approximately Rs 11,664 crore) in funds. The company was previously expected to raise Rs 3,750 crore (around $450 million) through a fresh issue.
However, the fresh issue size has now reportedly been updated to Rs 5,000 crore (about $600 million), an increase of Rs 1,250 crore or $150 million, as the company readies a cash chest in a highly competitive market. Meanwhile, Karan Johar is all set to follow Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s footsteps and direct a big-budget web series for Netflix. New reports claim that Karan Johar will make his OTT directorial debut soon.
Karan Johar’s directorial prowess has already been proven over the years with projects like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna, My Name Is Khan, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kaha.
