Another Emirates outing and another Kai Havertz goal. The Arsenal striker has may have started off his career in north London in slow fashion, but he cannot stop scoring in front of his own fans these days. Havertz broke the deadlock in the 20th minute against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night in the second round of fixtures of the revamped Champions League.
The German was picked out beautifully by Leandro Trossard with a floated cross into the box, with the ex-Chelsea star beating goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma to the ball. With the Italian shot-stopper in no man's land, all what Havertz had to do was guide his effort into the back of the net, which he did with ease. His header has brought up his fifth goal of the season in his ninth outing in all competitions.
It took him until his tenth game last term to grab his first Arsenal goal following his £65million switch from Stamford Bridge. And with his latest goal, he has become the first Arsenal player since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in 2019 to find the back of the net in six consecutive Emirates fixtures. Havertz's run stretches back to the final game of the 2023/24 campaign, where he scored a late winner in a 2-1 triumph against Everton.
He scored Arsenal's first of the current season on the opening day against Wolves. And he then got on the score sheet in the club's next home clashes with Brighton, Bolton, Leicester and now PSG. The former Bayer Leverkusen starlet is now just one goal shy of equalling Robin van Persie'.
