Pune: Photo voter slip distribution continues to drag on across several urban localities in Pune district, with just five days left for the Nov 20 assembly poll. ECI had earlier directed election officials to ensure 100% coverage to avoid last-minute confusion among voters. Booth-level officials (BLOs) responsible for distributing the slips said they were finding it difficult to reach out to each and every voter, considering the high number of electors in the district at 88 lakh.
Besides, they said, addresses of many voters could not be found. The voter slips contain information about polling booth location. "As cellphones are not allowed at the polling booths, the voter slips would have come handy.
We are not sure as to when will we get ours. There has been no intimation from the election office too," Wanowrie resident R Verma said, adding that none of his society members had received voter slips. Koregaon Park resident Sheila Bose, echoing similar sentiments, said, "Some party workers had visited our society for voter slip distribution some days back.
But, we are yet to receive voting slips from the election office." Not just south Pune, the residents in central Pune and even areas like Kothrud and Bavdhan are yet to be covered completely.
