A third “Jumanji” of the current era, and fourth overall, is in the works at Sony Pictures with a December 11th 2026 release on regular and IMAX screens announced today. Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan are expected to reprise their roles from previous two films, and director Jake Kasdan is also expected back. Whether supporting cast members like Nick Jonas, Awkwafina, Alex Wolff or Rhys Darby will return is unclear.

“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” arrived in 2017, a new take on Chris Van Allsburg’s 1981 book which was previously adapted into the 1995 film starring Robin Williams. Well-received by audiences, it ended up surpassing $950 million at the global box office. It followed a group of teenage friends getting trapped inside a video game as a collection of adult avatars A sequel, “Jumanji: The Next Level,” was quickly greenlit and released in 2019 and grossed just over $800 million.



Those involved have been keen to do a third one, but it’s mostly been an issue of scheduling. Johnson has previously teased this could likely serve as the final one in the series. Source:.
