) With the pending sunset of Measure X, I propose prioritizing essential services — public safety, public works, support critical infrastructure, etc. These priorities are the fundamental roles of local government. Once we identify our priorities, I want to look at all discretionary spending to make appropriate adjustments without sacrificing vital city services.
As an example, the City Council put a measure on the ballot to give themselves a gigantic pay raise to about $78,000 a year. This is an item I cannot support on principle, especially after they went to the taxpayers to ask for high.
