JUDE BACALSO – Cebu personality Jude Bacalso apologized for misgendering incident with Cebu restaurant waiter. On Monday, July 22, Jude Bacalso addressed the controversy where he was accused of making a waiter stand for hours as punishment for calling him “Sir.” The incident, which occurred at a restaurant in Cebu City, has sparked various online reactions.

Bacalso clarified that his intention was not to punish the waiter but to address a matter of respect and sensitivity. He explained that the waiter was not forced to stand for two hours; rather, they were waiting to resolve the issue with the restaurant’s management. Just recently, Jude Bacalso took to Facebook to share his side of the story.

He mentioned meeting with the management, a crew member, and the store supervisor who were present during the incident, though the involved waiter was absent. They agreed to work together to promote more inclusive practices in the restaurant. Bacalso admitted that he could have shown more kindness in pursuing his advocacy and apologized for the situation’s public escalation.

He made a public apology and expressed his desire to apologize directly to the concerned waiter. He reiterated that he did not deliberately ask the waiter to stand for the entire duration, stating that the waiter chose to stand as they waited for management’s input. Bacalso also apologized to the other staff members affected by the incident and acknowledged that he may have overstepped in trying to educate on gender sensitivity.

“This is a huge chunk of humble pie that I must ingest, because I have erred. May we start here with, as the supervisor pointed out, an uphill path to reconciliation and we hope you will be able to allow us and yourselves to do so unhampered so we may all learn and heal from this,” she said.
