Over 700,000 Travel + Leisure readers contributed their thoughts to help them decide the award. The readers rated the airlines on the following criteria: Cabin comfort In-flight service Customer service Value The winner of this year's number one domestic airline was JSX. Many found that JSX's ability to fly out of private terminals and fixed base operators (FBOs) makes it an easy choice when flying.

This allows customers to show up at their departure airport with only 20 minutes to spare prior to their flight. Additionally, JSX offers business-class seating, high-speed WiFi, and premium snacks and drinks during the flight. To celebrate the achievement, JSX wrapped one of its converted Embraer ERJ-145 aircraft with a new livery.

This aircraft now features an all-red fuselage and empenage. Additionally, written on top of the red features are the names of every single crew member that JSX employs. This gesture was meant to honor each and every crew member's hard work and dedication that helped JSX achieve this important award.

About JSX JSX is considered to be a semi-private air carrier , although JSX describes itself as a "hop-on jet service". The company was founded in April 2016 by Alex Wilcox. Wilcox intended to create an airline that could compete on short-haul flights, as, at the time, short-haul flights were increasing in price.

Wilcox believed that this was because of rising wait times at airports. To counteract this, Wilcox created JSX, which charters an aircraft from a subsidiary and then resells its open seats to the public. This is considered to be a charter operation, even though it is still a scheduled flight.

This means that passengers can board the aircraft from private terminals and FBOs. Passengers are not forced to wait in long Transportation Security Administration (TSA) lines like they are for scheduled commercial flights. Currently, JSX operates Embraer ERJ-145 jets, which are specifically configured to fit 30 passengers.

These are spacious business class seats with improved legroom. A unique experience is curated for passengers, including serving various food and drink options. JSX flies across North America, including flights to: Dallas Love Field (DAL) in Texas Westchester County Airport (HPN) in New York Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport (OPF) in Miami, Florida Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas, Nevada Scottsdale Airport (SCF) in Arizona Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) in California.
