OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma businesses and nonprofit groups were recognized Thursday night by The Journal Record for promoting women and encouraging public service. The newspaper handed out its annual Empowering Women and Beacon Awards at the Oklahoma History Museum near the State Capitol. The Journal Record ‘s Empowering Women Award is an annual recognition program that celebrates exceptional female leaders and organizations who have made significant contributions to women in professions and communities. The Journal Record also honored 17 Oklahoma companies and organizations for their contributions to the community during the 17 th annual Beacon Awards celebration on Aug.
