Jonathan Bloomer, the chairman of Morgan Stanley International, and his wife are among the missing after a yacht sank off the coast of Sicily, according to a statement from UK insurer Hiscox on Tuesday. Jonathan Bloomer has also chaired Hiscox since 2023. Aki Hussain, Hiscox's Group CEO, expressed deep shock and sadness over the incident.

"We are deeply shocked and saddened by this tragic event," Hussain said. The yacht, named Bayesian and flying the British flag, carried 22 people, including ten crew members, when it capsized early Monday. Among the missing are UK tech tycoon Mike Lynch and his teenage daughter.

The yacht was anchored approximately 700 meters from the port when a waterspout, a type of mini tornado, struck it. Jonathan Bloomer, 70, has had a distinguished career, leading several financial services organisations over the decades. The search for the missing individuals continues.
