Pune: About 35 Ganesh mandals from the central areas of the city have decided to join hands and celebrate Dahi Handi together instead of individual celebrations to reduce traffic congestion in teh city, considering rain and poor condition of roads. Workers of various Ganesh mandals said commuters are already facing severe congestion, and a collective celebration by many mandals will provide some relief from the snarls. The joint celebration is planned at Lal Mahal Chowk.

Members of Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati Trust, who have led this initiative, said they received a good response from various mandals. “The police are under immense pressure to make security arrangements across the city owing to the expanding Dahi Handi celebrations. It also gives rise to severe traffic issues and noise pollution.
