Fitness guru Joe Wicks will host a 5k run from Brighton's Palace Pier this weekend. Announcing the news to his nearly five million followers on Instagram, Joe, also known as The Body Coach, said he will be at the landmark from 8.30am on Sunday for a group run.

It is one of a series of events he has hosted across the country. Most recently he was at Tower Bridge in London, where hundreds gathered for a 5k run along the Thames. Joe Wicks will host a 5k run towards Brighton Marina on Sunday In a video posted on Instagram, the 38-year-old said: “I am loving these 5k runs at the moment and this Sunday morning I am coming to Brighton Palace Pier.

“We are going to head away from hove because there is a triathlon there so we will leave them to it.” The route will see runners head towards Brighton Marina for 2.5k, before turning around to return to the Palace Pier to finish.

“I would love to see you there,” the dad-of-four said. READ MORE: Joe Wicks feared he would fall into the ‘cycle of drugs and council housing’ “Anyone is welcome. You can walk it, bring your dog, bring your buggies and your babies, everyone is welcome to these runs.

“It is such a lovely way to start the day, if you are in town please don’t miss it.” The fitness coach already had a popular YouTube channel where he shared workout videos but became a household name after he began livestreaming PE lessons during the first Covid lockdown in spring 2020. This run is not the first Joe has done in Sussex, as he came to Eastbourne to host a similar event in May.

"The more the merrier," he said. This July, the TV presenter received an honorary doctorate at Loughborough University for his work “championing health and wellbeing for all”.

Speaking about receiving his honorary degree, Joe said: “It’s an absolute honour and a privilege to be recognised by Loughborough University in this way.”.
