Punjabi sensation Diljit Dosanjh recently took Delhi by storm with his sold-out Dil-Luminati Tour 2024, packing out the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 26 and 27. Known for his electrifying performances, Diljit had fans in a frenzy, with concertgoers flooding social media with clips of his high-energy hits. However, once the music stopped and the lights came back on, the stadium bore the marks of a wild night that’s left Delhi’s athletic community fuming.
Amid all the fanfare, athlete Beant Singh took to Instagram to reveal a different side of the night: a stadium in disarray, littered with garbage and empty alcohol bottles. Singh’s video offers a glimpse at what he describes as a “vandalized” stadium, pointing out broken athletic equipment scattered around the grounds. It turns out, athletes who normally train there were shut out of their regular practice space for a week leading up to the concert, and according to Singh, it will be another ten days before they can access it again.
“This isn’t just about litter,” Singh expressed in his video, “It’s about respect for sports and sportspersons. Budding athletes who use this stadium were kept out to make way for the concert, and now they’re facing the aftermath of it.” The video shows damaged hurdles and other training equipment tossed aside, with Singh calling the concert’s impact a stark reminder of India’s sidelined sports culture.
