The first reason, and maybe the most important, is that Roman is a centered and sincere human being who has demonstrated that she does not seek public office out of either personal ambition or partisan bias. She genuinely believes that the purpose of public service is to solve problems and lift up our communities. Roman demonstrated that as mayor over and over again, by helping bring back the city’s ambulance service, by bringing new people into city commissions, and by steering us through tough moments like the killing of Troy Hodge.

People committed to public service, not political games, is exactly what we need more of. The second reason I support Roman for Assembly is her 20 years of experience as a classroom teacher. Our public schools are in trouble, not just in New York state but across the country.

We have a literacy crisis of children reading way below grade level. Students and schools alike are still recovering from the disruptions of the pandemic. Having a genuine teacher who knows the challenges faced by our students and schools from the inside will bring something much needed in Albany.

Roman will promote policies and actions that make common sense. And common sense is another things badly needed at the sta.
