Advertisement Advertisement At the club’s 50th anniversary AGM on Friday, October 18, Mr Shaw’s dedicated service to the facility was recognised with the sports bar being named in his honour. Speaking to this newspaper, committee member Stephen Greene explained: “It was a fantastic night in the club. It was well attended, with many there to show their appreciation to Jim Shaw, who retired from commitee duties after 50 years. "We had Gary McAllister (Chairman of Official Amalgamation of Northern Ireland Supporters’ Clubs) as compere.



There were a few stories told of Jim’s past memories, both with football and the club itself. Advertisement Advertisement "In recognition of Jim’s long-service, the club named the sports bar after him. Alongside Jim, there were another two former Irish Football Association Presidents in attendance, Jim Boyce and David Martin.

We also had past players of Standard/Nortel Football Club. "Jim also received gifts from the commitee and management of the club, plus a presentation from the newly-formed Glasgow Rangers Supporters’ Club. "All round, it was a great evening for a great man.

The commitee would like to thank everyone for their attendance, especially to Gary McAllister for giving up his time to attend and co.
