Tuesday, January 21, 2025 Jharkhand is transforming its image, shifting focus from its mining legacy to becoming a sought-after tourist destination. To support this vision, the Hemant Soren government has proposed the development of a 506-kilometer, four-lane road network, designed to enhance connectivity and make travel seamless for visitors exploring the state’s attractions. According to the Indian Tourism Statistics 2023, released by the Union Tourism Ministry, Jharkhand welcomed more than 3.

8 million domestic travelers and nearly 200,000 international visitors in 2022. Officials from the Jharkhand Tourism Department revealed that the Road Construction Department has finalized a detailed plan for developing both general tourism corridors and dedicated religious tourism routes, following the identification of key locations by the relevant authorities. The routes for two segments of the 342-kilometer-long tourist corridor have been finalized.



These sections will connect Silli to Tamar (near Ranchi), Sisai to Ghaghra (in Gumla), Netarhat to Garu (in Latehar), Latehar to Herhanj, and Balumath to Chama More (near McCluskieganj). The official further stated that field inspections for the remaining six sections are almost complete. A 164-kilometer sacred tourism corridor, divided into four sections, is set to be developed to improve accessibility for devotees visiting religious sites.

These sections include Rajrappa to Gomia (30 kilometers), Gomia to Dumri (29 kilometers), Dumr.
