JEREMY Clarkson has scored a victory over the local council after being granted permission for a new project at Diddly Squat Farm. The Top Gear legend first gave viewers an insight into his passion for farming in 2021 when launched Clarkson's Farm on Prime Video. Jeremy, 64, recently applied for an extension which would allow him to construct a bullpen.
Brand new planning documents show the approval for the development which will ensure the “welfare of the main herd.” Clarkson, who already owns a small herd of Beef Shorthorn cattle, will now be able to add 6m in width and 11.5m in height to the end of one of his barns to house the animals.
The application reasoned: "The proposed extension is to provide a pen in order that the farm’s bull can be housed separate from the main herd to ensure welfare and avoid out-of-season calvings." Eager fans will now hope to see this featured on his popular show, Clarkson’s Farm, in the upcoming months. It comes after details of Clarkson’s renovations plans were revealed as he plans to completely overhaul his £1 million boozer in an exciting move.
The former Top Gear host wants to turn the neglected property, which is just 10 miles from his farm, into a thriving local pub. The Clarkson’s Farm star previously lodged an application with West Oxfordshire District Council that details plans for an upstairs bar and a request to extend the alcohol limit so sales can be made outdoors too. A West Oxfordshire District Council spokesperson said: "We have received an application to vary the Premise Licence at the Windmill Restaurant.
"It will follow the legal process for an application for this type which starts with a 28-day public consultation before the council determines the request in line with national guidelines, taking into account any feedback received." Now, it is understood Clarkson has reportedly put up a giant marquee in the grounds of The Windmill pub so he can sell alcohol in it. The vast green tent measures around 5,000 square feet and is located in the five-acre grounds of the Cotswolds boozer.
Building work is continuing at the pub which is located just ten miles from the former Top Gear host's Diddly Squat farm where he brews his own beer and cider. Fans got a glimpse inside Jeremy’s pub, The Windmill, which is located near Burford, Oxfordshire, earlier this year when he temporarily opened it up for the final of the Euros as England faced off against Spain . However, Jeremy then closed the pub again, as it wasn’t ready to be opened to the public permanently.
The Sun columnist previously stated that the pub might not be open to the public until 2025 , which is most likely because of the extensive renovations he has planned. Jeremy plans to give his newly acquired Cotswolds a fresh lease of life as he restores it to its former glory, and then some. After purchasing the Windmill, the Clarkson’s Farm star began to reveal some of the changes he’d be making in the local boozer, like banning “confusing” toilet signs.
Jeremy also confirmed that he only plans to have “well-priced, British-grown food” on his menu, along with his Hawkstone Beer. Fans caught a glimpse of his new Hawkstone beer pumps when the former Top Gear Presenter temporarily opened the pub for the Euro final. Jeremy envisions a “fun” and homely pub featuring bar billiards, darts, and a garden, as well as a place where he can enjoy a Sunday meal with his granddaughter .
He also plans to incorporate bar games, while banning noisy TVs in the establishment. While it may not be open to the public again until 2025, The Windmill will temporarily open its doors again for a pre-booked wedding event later this year. Clarkson's Farm began streaming in 2021 and follows Jeremy Clarkson and his team managing Diddly Squat Farm in the Cotswolds.
