In honor of the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special , various A-listers of all ages gathered to pay tribute to iconic moments of former AMAs while celebrating 2024's talent. Included in the lineup was Jennifer Lopez , who recently split from Hollywood actor Ben Affleck following two years of marriage. While the longtime entertainer was unable to take the red carpet in person, the star made a virtual appearance to reflect on her previous visits to the AMAs in Los Angeles .

She kicked off the video by reacting to being told her first performance at the AMAs was in 2001, which shocked the Jenny from the Block singer. She reflected on the night 23 years ago, recalling that "the energy in the room was very electric." A post shared by American Music Awards (@amas) The star went on to reflect on more memories, teasing fans about a performance.



"Maybe I'll do it again one day, who knows," she said with a smirk. She also reflected on her 2013 tribute to singer Celia Cruz, recounting it as "one of the most special nights of (her) life ever." Finishing off, J Lo told viewers: "Music really does have the power to heal, and to uplift, and to connect us.

And the AMAs have been showcasing that for half a century now, and I'm excited for the next 50 years of music and magic."
