Following her breakthrough role in Netflix’s Wednesday , Jenna Ortega has undoubtedly become one to watch on the red carpet, thanks to the Thom Browne Victoriana look she wore to the 2023 Met Gala and the ’90s Versace leather dress she opted for at last year’s SAG Awards. Now, the actor is back with a new film to promote, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice , in which she stars as another goth girl: Astrid Deetz. And while Ortega doesn’t necessarily take method dressing to the extreme, in the vein of say, Zendaya or Margot Robbie, it seems that the moody aesthetic we’ve seen before is set to stay – albeit with more of a romantic twist.

For the Mexico stop of the press tour, Ortega sported a nude tulle gown from Vivienne Westwood ’s spring/summer 2009 collection, embellished with black Latex detailing over the top. The choice of vintage Westwood was appropriate for the rising star: as British Vogue ’s Daniel Rodgers notes , it’s a “rite of passage” for those who are cementing their status among the great and good of Hollywood. With the Beetlejuice promo tour only just getting under way, we can’t wait to see what else Ortega – together with her stylist Enrique Melendez , who has been working with the star since she was 14 – rustles up for the red carpet.

Might the actor borrow an archival gem from co-star Winona Ryder’s wardrobe next? One can only hope..
