It is the largest and fastest business jet that Gulfstream manufactures, recently surpassing the Gulfstream G650 series. The new G700 was first announced in October 2019 at the annual National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Convention & Exhibition in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was introduced with a video of the aircraft taxiing, showing the development process was well underway.

The aircraft flew for the first time in February 2020. Eventually, after several delays, the FAA awarded the aircraft its type certificate in March 2024. Gulfstream began delivering the aircraft in April, just a month after it was certified.

The G700 features a cabin that is about ten feet longer than the G650's. However, the cabin cross-section kept the same measurements. The aircraft is powered by two Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines, which provide over 18,000 pounds of thrust each.

This aircraft was utilized more frequently than Bezos' older G650ER, although its frequency of flights has dropped since the delivery of the new G700. It has only flown four times since the G700 delivery date, per JetSpy. However, N758PB has still racked up 86 flights in 2024 for a total of 260 flight hours.
