It's not easy to grasp the size and scale of the Missing Link project in Gloucestershire as you drive along the constantly-changing road with roadworks here, there and everywhere. The driver's eye view cannot match that of drone footage of the £460m road building scheme. Anyone driving up , around the Air Balloon and Cowley roundabouts will see how much work is taking place and how the landscape surrounding the existing road has changed.

But what would a bird's eye view of the project show? Luckily, has released a new video showing progress made on the scheme which began in early 2023 and is due to be completed in 2027. When the new road opens, a new dual-carriageway will flow past the existing Air Balloon and Cowley roundabouts and link the at Brockworth with the M4 at Swindon. That is still two years away, but huge progress is being made by National Highways as the scale of the project becomes ever-clearer in the new video.

You can see the footage at the top of this article. The video includes some striking shots of the Crickley Hill section, which will be widened and have its gradient reduced as part of the project being delivered by contractors Kier. There are also some jaw-dropping scenes of the Gloucestershire Way Crossing Bowl with huge structures now appearing.

You can also see how 7.5km of dry stone walling is being completed. Foundation work and early stages of construction is also taking place on the Stockwell Bridge, while the Cowley contraflow system is clearly .
