The airline has partnered with Tokyo DisneySea for this and has also had various Disney-inspired liveries over the years. Fantasy Springs livery Japan Airlines will soon launch the ‘JAL Fantastic Journey Express,’ a Boeing 767 aircraft painted in a special livery inspired by the new Fantasy Springs-themed port that opened at Tokyo DisneySea® Park in June this year.

Starting late October, the aircraft will be seen operating domestic flights for a limited period of time; it has been painted through the airline’s collaboration with Tokyo Disney Resort®. Fantasy Springs offers three areas inspired by popular Disney animated films: "Frozen," "Tangled," and "Peter Pan" (they are also part of the livery). It also features the latest Disney-themed hotel, Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel.

The aircraft chosen for the livery is a 15.3-year-old Boeing 767-300ER that seats 252 passengers (5 in first class, 42 in business, and 205 in economy class). The JAL Fantastic Journey Express will be in service tentatively from late October 2024 through November 2025, and specific routes and flight numbers will be posted on the carrier’s website the evening before each flight.

What can guests expect? The Disney theme will continue inside the aircraft, with special designs on headrest covers and paper cups. The headrest covers will be different colors for business class and economy, while the cups will come in three designs. As a commemorative inflight gift for every passenger, a boarding pass sticker in three different designs will be available.

The carrier, however, has said that the cups and the special boarding pass stickers will be available until stocks last and that passengers cannot select their own designs. The process of boarding and deplaning will also be made a little special on these flights, with the airline deciding to play the music “You Can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly!” and “Journey to Fantasy Springs.” Disney livery is popular with airlines This isn’t the first time Japan Airlines has painted one of its planes in a Disney livery.

In fact, this is the sixth time the carrier has done something like this since it first teamed up with Tokyo DisneySea when it opened in 2001. Alaska Airlines also has a strong relationship with Disney and has painted several of its planes with different Disneyland-related liveries featuring characters ranging from Goofy, Pluto, Donald Duck, and Daisy Duck to Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie from Disney-Pixar's Toy Story franchise. WestJet has also partnered with Walt Disney Parks & Resorts since 2004.

It has had aircraft painted in the themes of “Frozen” as well as what is calls the "Magic Plane," a dark-colored fuselage that has Sorcerer Mickey, portrayed in the 1940 film Fantasia. Brazilian carrier Azul Linhas Aéreas also partnered with Disney to have four of its planes painted in unique liveries and members of the Disney family, which it called the “World’s Most Magical Fleet.” Azul expects to receive the new aircraft shortly.
