Janice Jackson, age 89, resident of Brainerd, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024, at her home. Janice was born on January 15, 1935, to Henry and Madge (Cole) Kelling. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am Friday, November 15th at St.

Andrews Catholic Church. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass. Janice was a wife, mother and sister first.



She loved spending time with her family, sharing many beautiful stories of growing up in Kansas and traveling the world in her life. Janice was a devoted Catholic and participated in social justice ministries with her husband, Walter. Janice was one of the founding members of Birthright in Brainerd and later Coeur d’Alene and Kellogg, Idaho.

She helped run a soup kitchen and womens’ homeless shelter. Janice also coordinated a free clinic to provide healthcare for the underprivileged in Idaho. Janice was a skilled seamstress, making many school clothes and wedding dresses over the years.

She loved to sing around the piano or in church. She is survived by her children, Patrick Jackson (Arlene), Jennifer Hawkins (Larry), Rebecca Lindquist, Janet Jackson, Frances Jensvold (Tony), Ruth Francis (Blair), Anne Hogan (David), Judith Whaley (Paul), Deborah Flannery (Chris); siblings, Gary Kelling, DeEtta Stein, Vicky Lannon (Jack), Lynnette Bennett (Joe), Deborah Jones (Lee), and Kathleen Kelling. She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Jackson; sons, Michael and Andy Jackson; son-in-law, Thomas Klansky; sibl.
