Janet Jackson raised questions about Vice President Kamala Harris ' race during an interview with The Guardian for its Weekend podcast. Jackson, who recently recalled an awkward wardrobe malfunction , was discussing her Together Again tour, echoing canceled dates earlier this year , which will conclude in Glasgow, Scotland when the topic of the 2024 U.S.

presidential election arose. When a reporter mentioned that America might elect its first Black female president , Jackson quickly interrupted. “She’s not black, that’s what I heard, that she’s Indian. Her father’s white, that’s what I was told. I mean, I haven’t watched the news in a few days.

When asked if she believed America was ready for a woman of color as president, Jackson replied: “I don’t know. Honestly, I don’t want to answer that because I really truthfully don’t know. I think either way it goes is going to be mayhem.
