Birth: 1933 Death: 2024 Janet Carol Stiles Janet Carol Barlow (Stiles), born January 3, 1933, in Richmond, CA, moved to Eureka/Arcata California and passed away peacefully on May 28, 2024, in Eureka, CA, at the age of 91. Janet lived a life full of love, dedication, and cherished memories, touching the hearts of many with her kindness and generosity. She was the beloved wife of Luther Eugene Stiles, with whom she shared a beautiful life filled with love and laughter.
They loved traveling the United States and especially enjoying their retreat in Salyer with family and Friends. Janet was a devoted mother to her two sons, Terry Robert Borges and Timothy James Borges, and a loving mother-in-law to Katherine Morris Borges and Jane Portalupi Borges. Her family was her pride and joy, and she found great happiness in spending time with her grandchildren, Trenton, Kristina, Kelly, Kate, and Jenna, and her great-grandchildren, Vincent and Micah.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sisters Camille Goble, LaMae Glenn, and Brother Bill. As well as late husband Tony Borges, brothers-in-laws Don Terbush, Eddie Cardoza and John Dias. Janet was a dear friend to many, including Tina Terbush, Mary Borges of Santa Rosa, CA, Mary Borges of Arcata, CA, Caroline Corning, Shirley Howden, Denise Braafladt and Carol McCartney.
Her friendships were a testament to her warm and caring nature, she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Janet spent many years at Hensell Building Material, where she built lifelong friendships and took great pleasure in working for such a wonderful company. The Stiles family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the many neighbors who looked out for, cared for, and were great friends to Janet and her family.
Janet’s legacy of love, compassion, and dedication to her family and friends will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Her memory will be cherished, and her spirit will live on through the lives she touched. Janet’s Memorial Service will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday July 27th from 11-2pm at the Elks Lodge, CA.
