Jamie Theakston's replacement on Heart Radio has been revealed after the star's shock cancer diagnosis . The popular presenter recently confirmed that he had been diagnosed with Stage 1 throat cancer after undergoing surgery on his vocal cords. In an emotional statement on Instagram , the 53-year-old revealed his replacement on Heart FM would be Jason King, known as JK.

Sharing his health update, Jamie said: "Hi Folks, as you know - I recently had an operation to remove a lesion from my vocal cords. The biopsy has identified this as stage 1 Laryngeal cancer. So - I have cancer - but cancer doesn’t have me.

The prognosis is very positive and I’m hoping to be back with you in October. Revealing his stand-in, he added: "Until then I've been told to give my voice a rest and leave you in the mostly capable hands of JK and Amanda. Big thanks to them and all the Global family who have been unbelievably supportive.

Be thankful for this day, and when I next see you, I’ve got a great story to tell ...

Jamie x." Jamie was flooded with support after posting his positive message, with his co-host, Amanda Holden , telling listeners she would be 'holding the fort'. She said: "He has told us that we have got to hold the fort and he has told us that the show must go on and absolutely that's what we're going to do.

We're going to do him proud." Amanda also rushed to social media to share her love and support. She shared Jamie's post on her story and added: "We love you @jamie_theakston.

" She then wrote on her own Instagram page: "Our wonderful @jamie_theakston has been diagnosed with stage 1 laryngeal cancer. His prognosis is very good and he has an incredible team around him. Jamie.

We love and miss you and look forward to seeing you very soon." Following his diagnosis, Jamie thanked fans who noticed key symptoms before he was diagnosed with cancer. The broadcaster previously said he would be off the air for some time after struggling with his voice.

But today, he announced that a biopsy taken during his operation saw him diagnosed with Stage 1 Laryngeal cancer. This type of cancer forms in the tissues of the larynx – part of the throat between the base of the tongue and the trachea. Taking to Instagram earlier this month, the dad-of-two stated that fans had noticed a huge change in his voice, posting: "Sooo – a few of you listeners have noticed my voice hasn't sounded right these past few weeks – I've got you to thank.

.. Got it checked – Doctors found a lesion on my vocal chords which I've had removed this weekend – thanks for all the kind messages – should be back on my feet soon – in the meantime.

.." alongside a zipped-mouth emoji.
