With cold mornings back this October, fresh warm scones straight from the oven are an absolute treat to pair with your teas and coffees. This one recipe from James Martin will take your homemade scones to the next level - and it only takes 30 minutes from scratch.

They're ideal for a weekend treat for yourself or to show off to your loved ones. What's more, they only take around 10 minutes in the oven, meaning you can have homemade scones on your table in no time. There is nothing more British than a scone filled with cream, and they can easily be made quickly with only a few ingredients according to BBC Food.

James Martin's easy scone recipe 225g/8oz self-raising flour 1 tsp baking powder Pinch salt 25g/1oz caster sugar 50g/2oz unsalted butter, slightly softened 150ml/1⁄4 pint milk 1 egg, beaten, or plain flour , for brushing or dusting Firstly you should pre-heat your oven to 220C/425F/Gas 7.
