With deep sadness, the family of James (Jim) Johnston, announces his passing on November 9, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on February 19, 1938, in Port Arthur, ON to Nonie and J.B.

Johnston, parents he shared with his younger sister Marilee (predeceased), Jim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he met. Jim's lifelong journey of love and commitment began with his teenage sweetheart, Marlene, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. Together, they raised a beautiful family including their children Karen (Will) Quarrell, Paul (Shannon), and Krista (Chris) Moore.



Jim's legacy continued to grow with the joy brought by his grandchildren Ashleigh and Devon (Cora-Lee) Quarrell, Alyssa and Aaron Johnston, and Reese Bartlett (Matt), and was further enriched by the arrival of his great-grandchildren Ty, Jaxon, Finn, and Evangeline Quarrell. Also left to mourn is his beloved dog, Louie, who was a faithful companion until the end. Jim's passion for education was evident in his pursuit of academic excellence, earning both Bachelor and Master of Arts Degrees from Lakehead University.

His quest for knowledge continued even into his retirement, as he acquired a Graduate Certificate in Industrial Woodworking Techniques from Confederation College, earning the Dean’s Medal for Academic Achievement. Jim's professional life was devoted to shaping young minds as an Elementary Teacher, Coach, and Principal with.
