Pune: A zero FIR against AIMIM 's former MP Imtiaz Jaleel and his supporters was registered on Wednesday by the Kondhwa police after the organiser of an MNS students' wing accused the said politician of provocation with an intent to cause riot and promote enmity between two groups during his Tiranga rally from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to Mumbai on Sept 23. Complainant Mahesh Bhoibar (28) alleged that on Jaleel's deliberate instructions, his supporters smeared black paint on milestones and km boards which had Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar written, along Samruddhi Expressway route in Jalna and adjoining locations. He said it was a calculated act to provoke religious tension.
Speaking to TOI, Jaleel denied the allegations. He said, "We have nothing to do with the incident. Instead of buckling under pressure from right-wing organisations, the Kondhwa police should have first accepted the complaint application and conducted an inquiry, before registering the FIR.
The alleged act was done by a person not from our community. The man posted pictures on social media and blamed AIMIM. Later, he confessed and even apologised in Jalna.
" Kondhwa police inspector Mansingh Patil said, "We have transferred the FIR to Jalna rural police." Bhoibar said, "The news of defacement has insulted a particular community. So.
I registered a complaint.".
