For being self-sufficient financially, the Jaipur family court rejects a woman’s application for alimony on August 30, 2024. The order issued by presiding officer Pawan Kumar in Jaipur Family Court No. 4 specified that as the wife’s income was comparable to that of the husband, she was not entitled to any kind of financial support.
She had demanded maintenance pending disposal of the divorce case. The Jaipur family court denied alimony to the woman. A Jaipur-based wife filed an application under Section 24 of the Hindu Marriage Act for monthly alimony.
However, her plea was rejected citing that since her income was adequate, she was not entitled to the maintenance. The wife had demanded Rs 75,000 per month as maintenance, besides Rs 50,000 as litigation fees and Rs 3,000 per hearing. She claimed that her husband’s monthly income, including salary, rent, and other sources, was around Rs 2.
