Jade Thirlwall enjoyed Boxing Day in South Shields, despite an illness stopping her from taking part in a yearly tradition. The former Little Mix member turned solo artist celebrated her December 26 birthday in her home town on Thursday. The singer usually takes part in the Boxing Day dip in South Shields , going back to 2011, but this year, she had the flu.

This didn't stop her from attending and cheering on those who were running into the sea, alongside her boyfriend, Rizzle Kick's Jordan Stephens. Taking to Instagram later in the day, ahead of her birthday party at Arbeia, the bar she owns in South Shields, Jade said: "Thank you so much everyone for the lovely messages, haven't had the time to respond cos in true nanna fashion, I had a nap that lasted three hours and I'm now late for my own party lol." This morning, after a night of partying in her native North East, Jade posted several photographs of the last few days, alongside this message: "Feeling all of the Christmas and birthday love, a little rough today and hoping any drunken videos of me singing horrendously are wiped off this earth.

"Thank you to everyone who came to my party last night, Two Metres Apart for performing, and all the lovely messages, and well done to those who took part in and donated to Cancer Connections Boxing Day dip." Having found success with Angel Of My Dreams, her first solo release, Jade is set for a busy 2025. Her first solo album is set to release next year, and fans are eagerly anticip.
