A MAN who has spent the last five years living in a caravan, has revealed that he only pays £90 a week in rent. Ben, who keeps his caravan on the same campsite in Dorset for 12 months of the year said that caravaning is the "best life", but revealed that it might not be for everyone. Taking to TikTok, he said: "100% guys you can live in a caravan, and it's legal.

"But if you like your home comforts and your luxuries, it's probably not going to work for you." Ben revealed that one of the downsides to living in a caravan is that you have to empty your own toilet. He also has to refill his caravan's water tank by 50 litres at a time, which he said is just enough for him to have a shower, do the washing up twice and make a few coffees.

Despite these downsides, Ben's lifestyle is super cheap, and he only spends £20 a week on heating his caravan with a diesel heater. Ben's caravan has a spacious awning on the side, so he has lots of space for everything that he needs. Inside the awning, the floor is carpeted and it contains a a freezer and a large sofa.

"I like having a tent on the outside because it's more outside space and you can open up the windows at the front", he said. Ben spent £3,000 on the awning, but has fitted it with a good quality rubber roof, so that it has a "lifetime guarantee". He also spent just £5,000 on the caravan, which is far cheaper than the cost of a house or a flat.

"You don't have to spend a fortune guys", he said. The TikToker also has a small garden on the outside of his caravan, and said that living on the campsite is "so peaceful". Ben's video, which was posted under the username @bensadhdworld , has likely left many impressed, as it has racked up over 700,000 views on the video sharing platform.

The tiny house movement began in the USA before gaining popularity in the UK. What is a tiny home? Tiny houses are small, fully-equipped living spaces designed to lead a more sustainable, off-grid lifestyle. Although they vary in size and shape, tiny homes tend to be between 15 and 50 square metres in capacity, made of sustainable materials and are easier — and cheaper — to maintain than traditional brick homes.

Are tiny homes legal in the UK? As long as the tiny house doesn't exceed 19.8m x 6.7m in size, it is defined as a caravan in UK law.

Therefore, tiny houses are classed as legal additional living space. Can you get a mortgage for a tiny home? The small size and relatively low cost of tiny houses means they’re not generally considered eligible for a mortgage. However, there are plenty of options to take out a loan to fund your dreams of the perfect, moveable home.

TikTok users raced to the video's comments section to share their thoughts on his lifestyle choice. One person said: "We live in a caravan full time and I actually love it". A second person said: "Absolutely beautiful.

"I live in a flat and it depresses me so much. "This is lush and I can tell that you appreciate your space so much." A third person said: "I live in a boat, not quite the same but similar outside style life and it is the best thing I ever did.
