Nobody likes hanging about in the airport, so frequent travellers know that it pays to get your security routine down right. That means keeping items headed for the tray in the front pocket of your carry-on – and doing your best to avoid fumbling to squeeze a bunch of bulky liquids into that irritatingly tiny bag. One item that’s guilty of taking up serious clear bag real estate? Your deodorant.

Obviously, large spray cans aren’t going to fit at all, and chunky roll-on tubes take up room that could be far better used for your SPF and makeup (read this to discover the best waterless beauty buys that can stay in your case through the scanner). Buying mini tubes of your regular products isn’t especially sustainable. So I’m happy to report I’ve found a new space-saving hack in Akt’s deodorant balm .



This natural deodorant comes in a simple slimline tube, similar to the size of your toothpaste – making it a real space-saver. On a recent trip to Bodrum, I switched my regular roll-on for Akt and thus could fit at least two or three more products into the bag. Plus, they were much more fun items than deodorant.

Win-win. But the big question: does it actually work? For me, it’s a yes – with one caveat. The main draw is the balm consistency, which absorbs well and feels dry as soon as it’s rubbed in, unlike a liquid roll-on or spray.

This makes for far less transfer onto your clothes, and you don’t need to wait for it to dry before dressing. I’ve never found a.
