GMB: Kwasi Kwarteng discusses Labour's settlement with RMT Good Morning Britain fans fumed as hosts Richard Madeley and Kate Garraway welcomed on an expert this morning (August 19). The presenting team introduced former Conservative Chancellor of the Exchequer, Kwasi Kwarteng , to the ITV show to discuss the latest move from the Labour party - But as he came on, viewers "switched off". Mr Kwarteng was on the show to give his expert opinion after reports that the government is looking to amend a law that would mean trade unions could be free to strike even if most of their members do not vote for it.

Giving his take on the situation, the former politician said: "The only explanation I could come up with is they've got 5 years and they're trying to get everything controversial out at the beginning." He added: "The problem is, as we're going into winter, it's August now, is that if you give big settlements to different unions that won't prevent industrial action. It could encourage people to say 'well if they got 10%, if I go on strike I might get 10% as well.



' "That's the danger. You get a domino effect. And you could well be in a situation where we are facing a lot of industrial action coming into the winter.
