Good Morning Britain saw a new weather presenter today (Image: ITV) Laura Tobin was missing from today's episode of Good Morning Britain , with a former BBC soap star stepping in to fill her shoes. The ITV meteorologist announced on yesterday's show (August 20) that she would be taking a lengthy break from her weather duties. During Tuesday's episode, presenters Kate Garraway and Sean Fletcher passed the baton to the meteorologist for the upcoming week's forecast.
But Laura was distracted as she admitted she "didn't care" about the UK weather due to jetting off on holiday. Kate said: "I was trying to wear everything summery quickly before it has to go back in the suitcase under the bed." To which, Laura replied: "You know what Kate? I actually don't care because I'm going on holiday tomorrow.

The star is best known for playing the role of Lenny Wallace in BBC 's EastEnders , but made his weather presenting debut on GMB back in 2020, after joining ITV News Central as the weather presenter in 2016.

Posting to Twitter (now known as X), one user praised the presenter, saying: "Good to see Des! #GMB". Another added: "Yay our local weather man is back.

Someone else posted: "Well that was a different style of weather forecast #Gmb." Another said: "@DESCOLEMAN reporting the weather today like a horse racing commenter #GMB." While one more added: "@GMB I like not Laura and his enthusiasm but, maybe he could turn down the volume a couple of notches so he’s not shouting the weather at us and work on his breathing as the constant sharp intakes of breath are rather distracting! #GMB.

Posting to Instagram back in May, Des said: "I have been quite poorly as of late. I had a cerebral fluid leak that left me with intense migraines, and on top of that, tinnitus.
"But I am getting better and looking forward to coming into work tomorrow." Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV and ITVX.
