Soap watchers will recall that only recently Cassie Plummer, portrayed by Claire Sweeney, was hired by Ken (William Roache) and his family earlier this year as a carer following his fall and she has been caring for the Weatherfield veteran ever since.
While it at first seemed selfless and sweet that Cassie was caring for Ken, soap watchers have started to become wary especially after Ken learnt he had secured a £50K premium bond win, which he told Cassie about. On Monday night's episode, Ken's son-in-law Steve McDonald learnt of Cassie's plans to whisk Ken away to a luxury spa. However, Steve was wary as he asked whether Ken was paying for the getaway, suggesting she was 'taking advantage' of an old man for a 'free holiday', predicting she would ditch him at the hotel.
However, Cassie hit back saying no one thinks about carers and the trip will be good for Ken, adding she enjoys his company. Taking to Twitter , now X, viewers are worried that Cassie could be fleecing Ken out of his £50K premium bond win, worrying she may have more things in store to get her hands on the money. (sic) Meanwhile, on Monday night, actress Kate Ford appeared to leave Coronation Street as Tracy Barlow again, just weeks after a return to the ITV soap.
Tracy returned to Weatherfield after a row with lover Tommy Orpington, who she moved to Spain to be with earlier this year and had an affair with, leaving husband Steve crushed. Upon leaving the cobbles once again, Tracy had some advice for her ex as she pointed out it was obvious that Cassie fancies him, suggesting that the two go on a date and see where it goes.
