Coronation Street star Vicky Myers has continued to show support for her new co-star as she shared a 'thankful' update. The actress was quick to welcome Sydney Martin into the cast earlier this year. It was only revealed last month that the newcomer was Betsy Swain, the daughter of Vicky's character DS Lisa Swain.

Sydney had already popped up in the ITV soap, with her character simply referred to as Sabrina Adetiba's mate. Later, Betsy made a surprise appearance at Joel Deering's engagement party and demanded money. A stunned Joel hurriedly escorted her away before reluctantly giving her the cash.

By the end of the episode, her identity was confirmed as DS Swain met her daughter in the precinct park, where they had a confrontation before Swain insisted Betsy get in the car and head home. Betsy and Joel stars Sydney Martin and Calum Lill (Image: Calum Lill Instagram) During Monday's (August 5) Corrie, Swain turned up at the hospital to get to the bottom of the baby's paternity.

The detective wanted to run a DNA test to prove Nathan Curtis was the dad after Bethany Platt's former abuser was set up over Lauren's disappearance by newcomer Kit Green and Joel. DS Swain subsequently arranged a meeting with Joel where she asked for his help in convincing Lauren to take a DNA test. But Joel's day got only got worse when Betsy reminded him he still owed her money for throwing her out of his car in the middle of a rough estate.

But he was horrified to see Betsy getting into Swain's car and the penny seemingly dropped about them being mother and daughter. But as the dark and challenging scenes continue to air, Calum Lill, who plays Joel took to social media with a string of snaps that showed the lighter moments in between filming. In one image, the actor could be seen beaming alongside on-screen fiancé Channique Sterling-Brown, who plays Dee-Dee Bailey, as they cuddled up to the youngster who plays Joel's daughter, Maeve.

There were also pictures of Calum cuddled up with Lauren actress Cait Fitton and Vicky Myers, who plays DS Lisa Swain, and a selfie with Joel's blackmailer Betsy Swain, played by Sydney Martin. Captioning the post, the soap star wrote: "Everyone involved put so much hard work into the Corrie eps airing at the moment. It was loads of fun! Hope you’re enjoying watching as much as we enjoyed making it.

" Sydney had been reflecting on her time on the cobbles so far (Image: Vicky Myers Instagram) It prompted Sydney to share the selfie to her own Instagram Story alongside snaps of her with on-screen mum Vicky and one of herself outside the famous Rovers Return. "Only my second day on the cobbles here!" the 22-year-old shared. "So thankful for the cast and crew around me.

" With Vicky featuring in the post, she was able to reshare it to her own Stories and wrote in view of her fans and followers: "There she is #BetsySwain #MyGirl," adding a pink heart emoji. It comes after Vicky was quick to gush over her new on-screen daughter when the Manchester Evening News caught up with her at the recent RadioTimes.com Soap Awards in Manchester.

Asked how Sydney was getting on, she said: "She's doing really well. I love working with her. She's growing every day and she's learning every day.

" She added: "She's just a beautiful soul and an absolutely terrific young actress so I'm really exciting to see how the story evolves between the two of them [Lisa and Betsy].".
