ITV is reportedly eyeing Amanda Holden and Alan Carr for a new travel show after their BBC success. Earlier this year, comedian Alan Carr and Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden returned with the second series of their popular travel show. 'Amanda and Alan's Italian Job' showcased the duo renovating dilapidated homes in Italy.
The first series was set in Sicily, while the second took place in Tuscany. The pair are said to have recently filmed the third series in Spain. Reports now suggest that ITV bosses are hoping to replicate the success of the duo's show with a new holiday programme, reminiscent of the classic "Wish You Were Here.
..?" first hosted by Judith Chalmers in 1974.
The pair are rumoured to be offered a lucrative deal to make the move. An inside told The Sun: "You’re talking about a potential 21st-century version of Wish You Were Here..
.? Which is ironic because Alan has joked that Amanda — who’s often pictured holidaying in a luxurious foreign resort — is a modern-day Judith Chalmers." They added: “But in recent years many of her journeys abroad have been with Alan by her side, and their friendship has grown deeper while making the three series of the Mediterranean travel shows.
"The duo are even on holiday together now in Greece and the most recent video of them messing around in the Med has been watched eight million times. That just goes to show their pairing is a winning combination — she brings the glamour, he brings the giggles.” Alan.
