F ashion month finished yesterday. As always, it’s been a reminder of how little there is out there that is genuinely new. Which is probably good news, given that the ever-after wardrobe is where it’s at from a not-drowning-the-planet-in-our-cast-offs perspective.

Yet two winters ago there actually was something new. It was the so-called scarf coat conjured up by the cult brand Toteme, a coat that — as its name suggests — has an inbuilt co-ordinating scarf (£810, toteme.com ).



Not rocket science, then. But, nevertheless, coat science, and enough to immediately catch the attention of street-stylers the world over, or at least those in parts of the world that require, for some of the year, a coat. This season more affordable versions are all over our.
