Heartbreaking tributes have been paid to a 'beautiful' mum who was found dead after going missing in Leigh. Jane Burton's body was found after a desperate search on Tuesday (November 12). She had been reported missing from the Walkers Drive area at around 2am.
A major search to find Jane, originally from the Cheshire area, was carried out throughout the day, with emergency crews and police helicopters searching Pennington Flash and nearby woodland. The force said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death and that her family were being supported by specialist officers.
In a public tribute on Facebook, her son Matt wrote: "I still can’t believe this is happening. It’s anyone’s worst nightmare. I just want to thank everyone who helped search for my beautiful mum at Pennington Flash today, it made me so proud of our community.
"The outcome feels like my hearts been ripped out. You were my best friend, my confident, drinking buddy and just the best mum I could have asked for. You had friends who adored you, nieces and a nephew that idolised you.
