The result of his efforts is an extraordinary oak-clad house with a monumental barrel vaulted central dining hall with a 23-foot-high ceiling which acts as a walkway between the front and back doors of the house.



Downley House has three storeys, measures 7,373 sqaure foot, and is made up of a series of towers and turrets accessed by spiral staircases. Kevin McCloud opted to host his Grand Designs House of the Year show there, and it was shortlisted for the prestigious RIBA House of the Year award. Now, some 12 years after moving in with his young family, Taee is saying goodbye to his one-of-a-kind home.
